First Base Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved.” (ESV)
Second Base Paul shows from the Scriptures the principles of salvation which now apply to faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. That principle is that when one’s faith in the living Christ is personal and real, that believer will confess this openly and by mouth to others. (Source: The Bible Panorama)
Third Base Tim Teufel is a former Major League Baseball second baseman who played for the Twins, Mets and Padres in a career that lasted 10 years. On June 10, Teufel had one of the most exciting moments in the Mets championship season with a walk-off pinch-hit grand slam in the bottom of the 11th inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a member of the 1986 World Series champion Mets. Throughout his career, Teufel was also known for his batting stance, the “Teufel shuffle”, in which he wiggled his butt back and forth before the pitcher’s delivery. He was drafted at 19 by the Brewers in 1978, the White Sox in 1979, and then was drafted in 1980 by the Twins and signed a contract. Since 2001 he has been a manager of 5 different Mets minor league teams and for 2017 he will serve as a roving infield instructor in the Mets Minor League Farm System.
Home Plate In January of 1991, something incredible happened to me. It was then that I first saw the work of the Lord in my life and received the free gift of salvation. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Yes, I am still a sinner, and yes I still fall short of God’s glory, but because I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead, I am forgiven! I now have a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. The great thing about salvation is that it is absolutely free and God offers it to everyone who believes. Everyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved–that’s eternal life. Each person has to make that decision individually. It’s the most important decision you’ll ever make.
The Final Out God our Father, you call each of us by name, and you treasure each of us individually as though no-one else exists. Inspire us to respect and value each person who comes into our lives this day. Amen.
